Hi there!
After a long time I want to open a new section/question.
I'm wondering how you guys handle negative comments about your relationship which come from other people, for example people you meet at a party, at work etc., but who are not really close to you. In my experience, it's more difficult to know how to react, also because one maybe doesn't want to start a discussion about racism, xenophobism etc. with stranger people XD
So as a example: I went to a party where my boyfriend was already at, and on my way to the party, I met some girls which seemed really nice. We were talking about boyfriends and relationship, and when we got to the party, I pointed out my partner and said, this is my boyfriend. First reaction of one of the girls: "Really, my parents wouldn't allow me to have a black boyfriend."
I was so shocked I didn't know how to react...
How would you have reacted?
I would look at this situation as their 'opinion'. She shared her honest opinion. And also the reality or fear that even if she wanted or liked to have a black boyfriend, her parents wouldn't take that thing easy. So, if see this situation from a different perspective, you would feel compassion. And you would also feel fortunate that your parents are okay with your relationship 😊
